Hart Rock (Hart Rock)
Hart Rock is a rock, 10 m high, lying 1.5 nmi northwest of the Herdman Rocks and 3 nmi north-northeast of the eastern extremity of Laurie Island, in the South Orkney Islands. It was first charted in 1838 by a French expedition under d'Urville. The rock was named in 1933 by Discovery Investigations personnel on the Discovery II, for T. John Hart, a member of the zoological staff of the Discovery Committee.

Antarctica is Earth's southernmost and least-populated continent. Situated almost entirely south of the Antarctic Circle and surrounded by the Southern Ocean (also known as the Antarctic Ocean), it contains the geographic South Pole. Native species of animals include mites, nematodes, penguins, seals and tardigrades. Where vegetation occurs, it is mostly in the form of lichen or moss.
