Cass Township (Township of Cass)
Cass Township is one of twenty-one townships in LaPorte County, Indiana. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,833 and it contained 757 housing units.
Cass Township was established in 1848. It was named for Lewis Cass, Democratic candidate in the 1848 United States presidential election.

Indigenous peoples have inhabited the Americas for thousands of years. Beginning in 1607, British colonization led to the establishment of the Thirteen Colonies in what is now the Eastern United States. With the Union's victory and preservation, slavery was abolished nationally by the Thirteenth Amendment.
