Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (Port Lotniczy Gdańsk im. Lecha Wałęsy, formerly Port Lotniczy Gdańsk-Rębiechowo, Flughafen Danzig Lech Walesa) is an international airport located 12 km northwest of Gdańsk, Poland, not far from the city centres of the Tricity metropolitan area: Gdańsk (12 km), Sopot (10 km) and Gdynia (23 km). Since 2004 the airport has been named after Lech Wałęsa, the former Polish president. With around 5.4 million passengers served in 2019, it is the 3rd largest airport in Poland in terms of passenger traffic.

Poland has a temperate transitional climate and its territory traverses the Central European Plain, extending from Baltic Sea in the north to Sudeten and Carpathian Mountains in the south. The longest Polish river is the Vistula, and Poland's highest point is Mount Rysy, situated in the Tatra mountain range of the Carpathians. The country is bordered by Lithuania and Russia to the northeast, Belarus and Ukraine to the east, Slovakia and the Czech Republic to the south, and Germany to the west.
