Karpathos Island National Airport

Karpathos Island National Airport is an airport in the island of Karpathos, Greece. The airport first operated in 1970 and it had very limited facilities (a small building of only 500 m 2 ). Today its buildings cover an area of 12,500 m 2 . The current airport facilities were constructed between 2005-2009. The inauguration of the new airport terminal took place on 25 July 2009. A bus route connects directly Karpathos Airport and the capital of the island Pigadia. Taxis are also available at the designated Taxi waiting area.

Greece (Ελλάδα), officially the Hellenic Republic (Greek: Ελληνική Δημοκρατία), self-identified and historically known as Hellas (Greek: Ελλάς), is a country located in Southern and Southeast Europe, with a population of approximately million as of. Eighty percent of Greece is mountainous, with Mount Olympus being the highest peak at 2918 m. The country consists of nine geographic regions: Macedonia, Central Greece, the Peloponnese, Thessaly, Epirus, the Aegean Islands (including the Dodecanese and Cyclades), Thrace, Crete, and the Ionian Islands.
