Nocrich (Comuna Nocrich)

Nocrich (Leschkirch; Újegyház) is a commune in Sibiu County, Romania, in the region of Transylvania. The commune is situated between Agnita and Sibiu. It is composed of five villages: Fofeldea, Ghijasa de Jos, Hosman, Nocrich and Țichindeal. Nocrich and Hosman have fortified churches.

It is the site of the St. Ladislaus Baroque church (with many surviving Romanesque elements, dating from previous buildings).

In 1910, the Agnita to Sibiu railway line was completed with stations at Nocrich, Țichindeal and Hosman. However, the line was closed in 2001. An active restoration group has since been formed aiming to restore the entire line to working condition.

Romania (România ) is a country located at the crossroads of Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe. It borders Bulgaria to the south, Ukraine to the north, Hungary to the west, Serbia to the southwest, Moldova to the east, and the Black Sea to the southeast. Europe's second-longest river, the Danube, rises in Germany's Black Forest and flows southeasterly for 2857 km, before emptying into Romania's Danube Delta. The Carpathian Mountains cross Romania from the north to the southwest and include Moldoveanu Peak, at an altitude of 2544 m.
